Learnership Training interventions The training that is provided can be divided into five main categories, namely Engineering (artisan training), Processing (smelting), Lifting Operator (LOPT), Safety and Earthmoving Equipment. Training can be given at more than one level in respect of most categories. Engineering courses, for instance, are offered at apprenticeship, learnership, skills programme, short course or Section 28 levels. MCD has the necessary evaluation facilities (RPL) to advise companies on the gaps in the training and development of both new and experienced artisans and therefore help them to fill these gaps and bring them up to the correct level of competence.
